Michael Reid Weske came into the world at St. Alphonsus this morning (Monday, February 21) at 8:05AM weighing 10 lbs., 4 oz, and measuring 22.5 inches long. Jen and Gabe arrived at the hospital Sunday afternoon around 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Jen spent all of Sunday night and early Monday morning in labor. At around 6:30 on Monday morning (after about 2.5 hours of intense pushing) the doctor informed them that they had made very little progress toward delivering the baby. The doctor doubted that Jen would be able to deliver the baby. Mom was exhausted and a little upset – after a short discussion they agreed to a c-section. After the surgery the doctor informed them that the baby was way too big to fit through mom’s pelvis – in hindsight any more pushing would have been futile. Mick is very big, and very healthy, and Jen and Gabe are extremely proud and excited as are the grandparents. Click on the links below to see pictures: |
