Costa Rica 2000

Front desk area

When we decided to return to Costa Rica (after our 1999 adventure) we convinced (not real hard to do) some friends to go with us. It was a very wise decision. Bob and Linda (who went to high school with Reid) turned out to be the perfect travel companions. Linda and Lisa were "in it for the monkeys" - Bob and Reid surfed - we all marveled at the beauty of the country and the warmth of the people - and, we all made yummy noises together at every meal! We started to plan our 2001 trip on the first day we spent in Costa Rica!

Welcome to our villa. We rented a two bedroom, two bathroom villa with a very large living room and a well equipped kitchen. We fixed coffee and breakfast every morning before we headed out on our adventure for the day. I should say that Bob cooked breakfast and made coffee for us every morning.

Someone came in and cleaned every day. Linda and Lisa got to be princesses and enjoyed every single moment of it.

Our private pool in the backyard of our villa.

Our back yard from the inside looking out. Our villa was complete with radio, TV, CD player, and the thing that made Bob and Reid the happiest - air conditioning with remote control!

We also enjoyed little land crabs both inside and out of the villa, frogs in the pool, and little geckos inside the villa.

Gatos!!!!

Some friends that were regular visitors. You'd never guess why????
Within an hour of arrival we were feeding 6 cats the tuna we took with us to snack on. Vamos al mercado comprar la comida de los gatos!

We discovered the German Bakery Truck parked outside the Villas. We had seen them around and heard about them, but did not realize that they made regular visits to the neighborhood to deliver fresh bakery goods. That we did not discover this until the day before last is probably a good thing.
LOOK AT THIS STUFF!!! It was absolutely delicious, and delivered right to your door, just like the old Helms Bakery trucks...
