This was our first view of Tamarindo, as we flew
in from San Jose.

Tamarindo Airport
Let's get on our way and see what this town has to offer... |
| Our flight crew hangs out in the terminal building taking
a short rest before their next flight. |
Off we go.... |
No traffic jams getting in and out of this airport!
That is if you do not count the cattle on either side of the runway.

Main street, downtown Tamarindo |

Playa Tamarindo |
Linda in front of one of the shops, downtown Tamarindo.

More main street Tamarindo. |
Walking back and forth into town, we always saw
(and heard) howler monkeys in the trees.
OOOOOOWWWWWWW
OOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW
We all learned how to make howler monkey noises so we could talk
to them.
There were some monkeys in these trees, notice
the large termite ball to the upper left. These are common throughout
the Costa Rican forest.
One evening we got to see the leatherback turtles lay their eggs
on the beach. Flash cameras are not allowed so we did not get any
pictures.
It was an amazing experience that none of us will forget. We got
to watch them dig a nest, lay eggs, and return to the sea.
They have been doing the same thing for 135 MILLION years!
We learned a lot about these magnificent creatures.

Smilin' Dog Taco stand.
Another last day discovery. The food was GREAT!!!
It is operated by a guy that is from Ventura, CA.
The Smilin' Dog Menu.... |
| Some local sights |
Some of the places were only for camping - bring your
tent and have a ball... |
| Another funky little place. Notice the spelling.... |
Way too soon, our airplane arrives to take us back to
San Jose. |
Standing by our luggage, waiting for our plane
to taxi in. We wish the picture REALLY showed how much luggage we
took. We were limited to 25 pounds each, Linda and Lisa each brought
125 pounds.
We promise to do better next time!
